Clarity stated by Meta: 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye over a 110° horizontal field of view.
On paper: 25 PPD, pancake lenses and a 110° × 96° field of view. A solid picture for the money, but below a dedicated PC headset like the Pimax Crystal Light at 35 PPD. Small dash text and far-off braking boards are where you'll notice it.
The real-life twist: it's a standalone headset. For PC sims you connect it with the Meta Quest Link cable, or over Wi-Fi with Air Link or Steam Link. Either way the image is streamed and compressed, so very fine detail can soften next to a native DisplayPort headset.
515 g on the spec sheet, battery built in (facial interface not counted). Two Touch Plus controllers come in the box, and refresh tops out at 120 Hz.
Full-color passthrough means you can find your wheel, your drink and the dog without taking the headset off.

Tighter budget? The Meta Quest 3S is €359.99 with 20 PPD: Quest 3 vs Quest 3S. On PS5, the PlayStation VR2 at €449.99: PS VR2 vs Quest 3.
Ready to pay for clarity? Crystal Light vs Quest 3.
The Quest 3 is the headset we'd hand a PC racer trying VR for the first time, or anyone who wants one device for racing and the rest of the week. It's not the sharpest, and it doesn't pretend to be.
At €619.99 (29 October 2026), it's the sensible way to find out if VR racing is for you.

On paper, the Meta Quest 3 offers 25 pixels per degree (2064 × 2208 per eye), a 110° horizontal field of view, compressed video streaming from the PC (Wi-Fi or USB cable). Meta states that the headset plays PC VR through Meta Quest Link or Air Link, and streams the Steam library through Steam Link. Most PC racing sims support OpenXR or SteamVR headsets: check the VR support of your sim before buying. This is a spec-sheet comparison, not a hands-on test.
Meta states 25 PPD with 2064 × 2208 pixels per eye. Pixels per degree (PPD) measure how many pixels cover one degree of your view: the higher the figure, the easier it is to read mirrors, gauges and braking boards.
USB-C (Meta Quest Link cable) or Wi-Fi 6E (Air Link, Steam Link). The PC image is compressed before it reaches the headset, which can soften fine details compared with a DisplayPort link.
No. Inside-out (4 IR cameras, 2 RGB cameras, depth sensor). The cameras on the headset track its position.
No console support is stated by Meta. In our selection, the Sony PlayStation VR2 is the only headset for PS5.
